nice to meet you. My name is Nobuhiro Shibayama. In 1995, I became interested in old folk houses and started looking at carpenters from Okubo to Kesen. Then, in 2000, I discovered an old private house built by a Kesen carpenter from the late Edo period in Iwate Prefecture, and relocated it to Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture. While renovating my house, I moved my resident card from Tokyo to Hakone in 2013. Home and garden are written as home, but the improvement and renovation of this old folk house "house" continued for 12 years from 2007 to 2019.

Things are said to last 3 days, 3 weeks and 3 months, but I was filled with the feeling that I should leave this "home" like a wonderful jewel box.

Well, I don't think there are many materials in Japan that can tell you about the history of relocating old houses and the garden of the mountain called Hakone in such detail.
